From the creator of Squid Family™ I bring you pokemon squid variations! I got the idea back when I learned about inklings being some sort of japanese pencil squids (lolilolus japonica) . Also when I found out Hotaru and Aori (Callie and Marie’s japanese names) are the names of actual squid species. What if there were other kinds of inklings to choose?
Flying squids: While not actually being able to fly, these fast squids use jet propulsion to cover longer distances than average squids. Only problem being that they have difficulties controlling where they land, ouch.
Giant squids: At reaching age 14 these squids’ humanoid form are already measuring as long as 6 feet! they move kinda slowly but their ink shots cover more territory.
Colossal squids: Depiste their name, they’re not bigger than giant squids (instead they’re much heavier) their swimming is also very slow but they have better resistance to enemy ink shots.
Bobtail squids: prolly one of the smallest kinds of squids around, they can hardly grow up to 5 feet and stop growing alltogether when they become 14, still they dont feel intimidated by those bigger than them and often their small size comes as an advantage in turf wars.
Bigfin squids: with egos just as big as their fins, these squids are more about fashion than turf wars, however they’ll never admit that its mostly because their large tentacles makes it hard to run.
Vampire squids:so edgy they cut! literally nicknamed “vampire squids from hell” due to the bat-like membranes connecting their tentacles and filaments replacing their suckers. This squid is rarely ever seen, they dont participate in turf wars as they cant produce ink or change color, however they can shoot bioluminicent mucus , they must have a lot of fun at parties!
Here’s a bonus! since the breeds Callie and Marie are named after are also worth a mention
Firefly squids can produce a pretty bioluminiscent light, as for reef squids, while not luminiscent, can reflect ambient light as if they could actually shine! (wouldnt it be pretty if the sisters could actually do this?)
But do Squids have families? where did they even come from? do they grow any taller past age 14? do you have to sacrifice a sashimi to the blooper gods in order to create an inkling? *slapped*
Btw where’s my male inkling age chart? I demand answers from the Squid Research Lab™!
Inkling fashion report! Check out this Inkling girl’s outfit. Cool, right? I told you fashion was paramount in Inkopolis! See how her hair color matches both her skirt and gun? That is some serious attention to detail! And look at how blinged-out her weapon is. Sooo cool! I’m suddenly questioning all of my own fashion choices. Maybe it’s time to move on from my usual sweatpants and Hawaiian shirt look…
