i can NEVER get enough of the power-of-friendship-ex-machina trope … when the villain is wiping the fucking floor with the hero … but then the hero reflects on memories of all their pals. all their chums. all their comrades. all their buddies. and the sheer thought alone is so powerful it grants them The Strength To Overcome. GOD yes. inject that bullshit directly into my bloodstream
I think the reason Homestuck has such staying power is that deep down, every millennial has two warring wishes – to become a cool hero and make a new perfect world with your best friends, or to be struck by a big space rock, killing us instantly.
I can agree with most people that the live-action Grinch is far from a great movie, but this scene always kills me.
FUNNY BIT OF TRIVIA ABOUT THIS SCENE.
When the Grinch yanks the tablecloth away, everything on the table was supposed to fall. But Jim Carrey did it so expertly, all of the objects stayed right where they were! So the Grinch running back and messing everything up was improvised by Jim =)
THAT’S AWESOME
Also I love the push of the table it’s so extra it’s great
Excuse me, but did you say the live-action Grinch is far from a great movie?
Because in reality, most Christmas movies are far, far away from being nearly as great as live-action Grinch.
don’t you just hate it when your brain gives you a bunch of really great ideas for a new story, but they’re all late/end game ideas with the necessity of a lot of Story™ behind them for full effect, but when you try to come up with ‘point a to point b’ your brain just kinda goes *excessive shrugging*
