ALLOW ME TO QUOTE STAFF:
THE ENTIRE APP WAS ALMOST SHUT DOWN BECAUSE OF PORNOGRAPHIC MATERIAL IN THOSE TAGS, AND PORNOGRAPHY IS ABSO-FUCKIN-LUTELY NOT FAMILY-FRIENDLY.
AND NOT ONLY THAT, BUT THE STAFF IS ACTIVELY WORKING TO CENSOR THESE TAGS SO THEY WILL BE CLEAN AND OKAY FOR ALL AGES.
and here’s something to think about: if they really did think that lgbtq “wasn’t a family value", then why would they leave the actual #lgbtq tag unblocked? (HINT: IT’S BECAUSE THAT TAG IS CONSTANTLY MONITORED IN ORDER TO KEEP ADULT CONTENT OUT OF IT AND KEEP IT A SAFE TAG FOR THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY TO USE WITHOUT HAVING TO WORRY ABOUT DONGS EVERYWHERE)
i get that tumblr’s new censorship policies are restrictive and somewhat over the top, but what a lot of people fail to comprehend either because they haven’t seen staff’s official post about the matter or because they just want to stir up shit is that THESE TAGS ACTUALLY CONTAIN ADULT CONTENT AND THEREFORE ARE NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN, AND I’M TIRED OF PEOPLE ASSUMING IT’S BECAUSE OF TUMBLR AND/OR YAHOO BEING ZOMG HOMOPHOBIC!!1!!11 WHEN ITS ACTUALLY BECAUSE THEY WANT TO KEEP THEIR MOBILE APPS ACTUALLY AVAILABLE TO TUMBLR USERS. AS IN YOU.
